| The Blue Star Flag in the Window | ||||

| Back when soldiers were going to serve our country in WWII, a group of mothers hung these special flags in their windows. If they had one son, or loved one, serving, they had one blue star. For every son who was serving, the flag had a blue star for each one. | ||||
If the flag had a gold star, that meant that the son had given his life for our country. |
||||
|
||||
| The group of mothers who started this tradition, were called the Blue Star Mothers of America, and they are still an active organization today. The are a non-profit (501[c]3) Veterans service organization supporting our military children while promoting patriotism. Their website is http://www.bluestarmothers.org | ||||
